Drill Bushings

Drill bushings, also known as jig bushings, are used to guide and support the cutting tool. This minimizes bending of the bit, improving hole accuracy. Reid Supply has a variety of drill bushings that fall primarily into two categories: press fit and renewable.Press Fit BushingsPress fit drill bushings are available in two types: Headless Press Fit (Type P) and Head Press Fit (Type H). Benefits of a type P bushing include: most commonly used, least expensive, flush mounting, and allow for close spacing on the fixture plate. The type P bushings are typically used most in single step drilling applications. The type H bushing is the same as the headless press fit, but it has a head (also known as a shoulder). The benefit of the head on this bushing is that it can withstand heavier axial loads compared to the type P preventing the bushing from being pushed through the jig hole on the fixture plate.[more][less]
Renewable BushingsRenewable bushings are meant to be used with liner bushings and in larger production runs. Fixed (Type FM) and Slip/fixed (Type SF), are two types of renewable bushings. The type FM is typically used in applications where the number of holes being drilled will exceed the life of the bushing. The bushing can be removed from the liner and replaced with a different size for the next process. Type SF bushings are similar to type FM bushings in that they are used in operations that the number of holes drilled is greater than the life of the bushing. The difference is that the type SF can also be used in operations where a hole is drilled, and a reaming/tapping process is necessary. But wait there's more!At Reid Supply we do not have a minimum order requirement.
